Nelson Piquet Jr. was the class of the field but on the final pit stop, Piquet was busted for speeding off pit road and in turn finished the race 7th after restarting tail end of the field. Race Day for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series...

Tonight the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series were under the lights @ Texas Motor Speedway for the Samsung Mobile 500. The race saw two cautions in the first 130 laps and for the remain 234 laps the race went green. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night, solely based on were the team qualified, was Jeff Gordon, driver of the #24 DuPont Chevrolet Impala entry for Hendrick Motorsports. Gordon came from starting in 34th position to finish 4th, his finish of the 2012 season so far. Gordon, along with Johnson, Earnhardt Jr., and Kahne where all chasing Hendrick's 200th Sprint Cup victory. Jimmie Johnson looked to have it in hand til getting caught up in lapped traffic and getting passed by race winner Greg Biffle. To add insult to injury, when Johnson tried to mount a charge, his #48 Lowe's Chevrolet Impala got loose entering turn 3 and got up into the outside wall handing Biffle the win. In winning, Biffle snapped a 49 race winless skid.

Race Day for the NASCAR Nationwide Series...

Tonight the NASCAR Nationwide Series were under the lights @ Texas Motor Speedway for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300. The race saw its share of cautions and for Kurt Busch the night was a struggle but a top 15 finish seemed manageable, that is until about 20 to go when his #54 Monster Energy Drink Toyota Camry entry for Kyle Busch Motorsports suffered an engine failure ending his night and giving him a DNF in his first start for KBM. Roush Fenway Racing's Ricky Stenhouse Jr. on the other hand had things go his way tonight as he was able to hold off a furious charge from the most dominate car of the nigth driven by Richard Childress Racing's Paul Menard.

In winning tonight @ Texas Motor Speedway in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300, Stenhouse Jr. secured his second win of the 2012 season and fourth in his relatively short NASCAR racing career. The win also help Stenhouse Jr. move up in the points standings moving to only four points behind current points leader Elliott Sadler, driver of the #2 OneMain Financial Chevrolet Impala entry for Richard Childress Racing.

The Series is off this coming week and resumes racing the following week, April 27 @ Richmond International Raceway in the NASCAR Nationwide Series 250.
